List of vacancies are enclosed for counselling for State Quota – Not Joined /Discontinued / Existing Vacancies in the Specialities under clause 54(b) subject to theoutcome of the related Court cases, All India Quota seats – Not allotted /Discontinued / Not Joined, State Quota Newly sanctioned seats and seats not shownin the I Phase of counselling in the Specialities under clause 54(b) subject to theoutcome of the related Court cases and Self-Financing Institutions.
Allotment and Reallotment will be done concomitantly from Rank 1 onwards.
The candidates who got allotment in State Quota in I Phase of counseling can claimonly the newly sanctioned and All India Quota surrendered seats for reallotment and not the seats already shown during I Phase. But they are eligible for reallotment of colleges.
Candidates who are willing to retain their seat allotted so far need not attend thecounseling session on 9-06-2008.
If no suitable candidates are available in the Service Category such seats will betreated under Private Category following communal rotation.
Selected candidates should join on 10-06-2008 by 11.00 A.M. Selected candidatesshould pay immediately a sum of Rs.5,000/-(Rupees five thousand only)by way ofDemand Draft drawn favour of Secretary,Selection Committee, Chennai-10 to get theallotment order.
Candidates should attend in person and no authorisation will be allowed.
Counselling will proceed till all the seats are exhausted.

1. Vacancies that arise in various specialities (except notified under clause 54(b) of Post Graduate Prospectus for 2008-2009 session) in Post Graduate courses due to non-joining / discontinuation in State Quota and All India Quota surrendered (including not allotted) will be filled up on 8.6.08 at 9.00 A.M. in the order of merit and communal rotation. The specialities which are excluded for allotment on 8.6.2008 at 9.00 A.M. are noted below.

DIRECTORATE OF MEDICAL EDUCATION MD/MS/5YR Mch NEUROSURGERY/MDS COURSES ADMISSION 2008-2009 SECOND ROUND COUNSELLING INTIMATION
Subject to the ruling of the Honourable High court in the connected cases, the second round of Counselling for MD/MS/5yr Mch Neurosurgery / MDS courses is tentativelyfixed on 8.6.2008. The seats surrendered from All India Quota, newly sanctioned seats and the vacancies arising due to not joining of candidates allotted under State quota will be filled in the counseling.
Change of specialties, re-allotment of colleges will be allowed for seats surrendered from AIQ and for newly sanctioned seats.
For vacancies arising as a result of not joining in Statequota seats, only re-allotment of colleges will be permitted. The seat matrix will be furnished before the counseling. Interested candidates are requested to attend the counseling for allotment/reallotment. No individual intimation will be sent to the candidates.

Counselling to fill up the unfilled vacancies in Open SC and all seats in service category in continuation of the first round of counselling is scheduled to be conducted on 22.04.2008. Call letters for SC candidates (excluding ST candidates) ( Marks from 61.04 to 55.40) and all service candidates ( Marks from 60.92 to 40.20) will be despatched on 15.04.2008.

COUNSELLING PROCEDURE – INFORMATION TO CANDIDATES
1. Candidates are requested to attend the session ½ hour prior to commencement of counselling.
2. Candidates will be called in the order of merit/rank in batches and can chose any one of branches or colleges at the time of counselling.
3. Allotment will be made in the order of merit/rank applying rule of reservation and roster method wherever applicable.
4. The no. of seats in each speciality with breakup details such as community, service status, will be displayed at the time of counselling at every stage.
5. Candidates are requested to produce the following original certificates:
1) Evidence for Date of Birth
2) Community Certificate
3) Final MBBS Part II Mark Sheet
4) CRRI completion certificate
5) MBBS/BDS Provisional Pass/Degree Certificate
6) Permanent Medical/Dental Registration Certificate
7) Attempt Certificate for Final MBBS/BDS
8) Eligibility Certificate (other than those who studied at Bharathiar University, Bharatidasan University, University of Madras, Madurai Kamaraj University and Tamil Nadu Dr.M.G.R. Medical University.
9) Nativity Certificate (if applicable)
10) Entrance Examination Hall Ticket.
6. Seats will be allotted to candidates satisfying the eligibility norms mentioned in the prospectus such as
a) A candidate who have completed or posess a Post Graduate Degree is not eligible.
b) A candidate who is a diploma holder is not eligible for another diploma.
c) If a candidate wants to be waitlisted during counselling he/she is automatically waitlisted in the general waitlist for all the courses.
d) Candidates can remain on the waitlist only for courses and not for colleges.
e) If a candidate is allotted a firm seat in a Degree course cannot remain the general waitlist.
f) Candidates who are absent at the time counselling at the scheduled time and date will not be considered later. However the Selection Committee reserves the right to permit him later and will be allotted seat as per the status when he actually attends the counselling.

h) In the other specialities 50% of seats will be allotted for service and 50% for open category.
i) Roster method of rule of reservation will be followed afresh from 2008-2009 session if seats are more than 1 and less than 8 in each branch.
j) If the seats in each speciality are more than 8, the rule of reservation will be followed as follows:
(OC-31%, BC-30%, MBC-20%, SC 18%, ST 1%) Within 30% reservation for BC, 3.5% reservation will be provided for BC Christians and 3.5% for BC Muslims, the details of which are available in the Seat Matrix published in the website.
k) In the event any newly sanctioned seats by Medical Council of India and All India Quota surrendered seats (after II Phase of DGHS counselling) it will be allotted to candidates (already allotted or waitlisted) based on merit/community following roster rule of reservation wherever applicable.
l) Candidates who have selected a course during the first phase of counselling, wish to attend the counselling again for the newly sanctioned/All India Quota surrendered seats, have to attend on their own by seeing the website and no separate call letter will be sent to them for that purpose.
m) Candidates are advised to look into the website daily to know about the day to day counselling details and vacancy position till 31st May 2008.
